eMarketer – A Resource You Should Not Live Without

I was recently interviewed by eMarketer to provide a testimonial about their service. You can see the video here. If you’re in marketing and you’re not a subscriber and regular user of eMarketer, you really should reconsider. eMarketer is an unbelievably valuable service. eMarketer provides:

  • an aggregation of secondary market research and reports that influence everyday marketing decisions on a host of topics, including advertising & marketing, B2B, demographics, email, mobile, search, media usage, social media, video, etc.
  • research and data that are easily consumed through clear charts and graphs. Each graph includes a reference to the original source, which you can use as a breadcrumb to dig deeper and find even more industry insights both in and outside of eMarketer
  • a digital world atlas and comparative estimation tool, which you can use to make a quick comparison of what leading analysts are reporting
  • reports that combine the aggregated research and data with insightful and forward-looking commentary from in-house eMarketer analysts
  • original webinars
  • original interviews with industry leaders
  • local events and ready access to their analysts

And, if the above was not enough, the people at eMarketer are wonderful to work with.

I use eMarketer multiple times a day, every day, and for a wide range of purposes. I use it for:

  • inspiration
  • backing up or refuting arguments
  • mCordis award, certification and workshops
  • individual and team exercises and case studies
  • developing and supporting client strategies
  • proposal responses
  • press and analyst briefing preparation
  • articles, white papers, case study and success story development
  • blog posts
  • and more

eMarketer is not the only data and insights tool I use, but it is certainly one I never leave home with out (it has a really useful smartphone and iPad app). Don’t think of eMarketer’s annual subscription fee as a cost, think of it as an investment in your business, in your people and in your clients. Used properly, eMarketer will help you make better, more informed and faster business decisions.
